Welcome back to my blog! If you’re new here, hi! Nice to meet you! My name’s Nicole! Make sure to subscribe to my blog and check out all my other social media channels that will be linked down below to tune into whatever fun stuff I’ve got going on!
As you can tell by the title of this blog post, today’s topic is one that I’ve seen multiple bloggers take part in, a reflection of life lessons and important things they learned before turning a year older! It’s an annual series for some, and I’m just so into the idea. I love that it’s truly a reflection of everything that makes you you. My birthday was in January and I turned the big 22, hopefully I can make this an annual thing and update you guys this time around next year!
I’ve had a lot of hard lessons to learn, tough spots to get through, and wild times in my life- each leading me to gain insight and make better personal decisions, helping me to be my best self everrrr- mind you, I’m still a work in progress. I have so much growing to do (does the personal growth and self love journey ever really stop though??) but these are some things that I’ve learned in the past 21 years that have helped me grow and prosper.
Without further or due here’s some things I learned while being 21.
1. Always trust your gut
Those gut feelings are no joke people. It’s your sixth sense for real. I haven’t always been good at trusting my gut but this year I’ve really been trying my best to listen to what my mind and body are trying to tell me. It’s brought some relief to my anxiety, being able to go with what I feel is right and say no to what doesn’t feel right.
2. You won’t click with every single person you meet
For the longest time I used to live my life wanting to please everyone, to make everyone my friend. When things didn’t pan out that way I would think that there was something wrong with me but that isn’t the case. I realize now that some people just aren’t going to like you, for whatever reason, and that it isn’t your problem it’s theirs. Maybe you just don’t vibrate on the same level and that’s okay, don’t dwell on it, just move on.
3. You’re only a failure when you stop trying
I can’t even tell you how many times in my life I thought that I was a failure and wanted to give up. Looking back, had I listened to my inner self doubt I would never be where I am today. Everything happens for a reason, and happens when it’s suppose to happen, and though it’s hard to accept defeat at times- the only failure is giving up.
4. Karma. Is. So. Real.
What you put out into the universe is exactly what you get back. If you go throughout life spreading negativity, then negative things will come back around to you in some way, shape, or form. I always try to have a positive outlook in every situation I’m faced with and I always always always am kind to everyone I meet and interact with.
5. The right person will come to you at the right time
And when you’re least expecting it. Before I met my girlfriend (of almost 5 years now in August omg!!!!) I was hopeless and had basically given up on love and the idea that there was someone out there that wasn’t going to hurt me. Tristan came to me in a time that I needed her the most and ever since we met we’ve grown together tremendous amounts- accomplishing all life’s major milestones hand in hand. Trust in the fact that when it’s the right person, “the one” you’ll know. Trust that your gut will tell you!
6. Things. Happen. For. A. REASON!!!
I can’t stress this enough! The universe has a plan for you and even if it seems like you aren’t where you want to be in your life right now, whether it’s career wise or relationship wise it’s for a reason that you will understand in the long run. Better things are coming, and will fall into place exactly when they are suppose to!
8. You can 100% choose who you want in your life
Without guilt, even family. I’ve learned that separating yourself from the people who are toxic, negative, and don’t have your best interest at heart is the most important thing for a persons overall well being, and that includes family. Even though it can be the hardest thing you ever have to do, severing that tie and the control a toxic person can hold over you will be a weight lifted.
11. Always stay humble
Remember that no matter how many followers you have, how much money you make, or what your status is in this life- we are all one in the same. Always remember to treat people with respect and be kind, you don’t know what kinds of battles someone could be facing.
Even though this post is extremely overdue, I hope you were able to relate to some of my life lessons and possibly even gain some insight. I hope next year that I’ll be all the wiser, and have many more accomplishments to share with you all!
