This post is inspired by an amazing blogger who I recently came across, fell in love with, and immediately started following. Her name is Izzy, and you can find her blog Chatty Mama Blog here. Don’t forget to also check out the post with her Sweater Weather Tag!
As you can probably tell, I’m in full fall swing. Don’t be surprised if that’s the main theme of my blog for the duration of the season (I’ll try to keep it minimal but I seriously love fall) which is why I thought it would be fun to do a fall themed tag!
The last tag that I did was the Beauty Blogger Tag (which has since been deleted) but if I’m being quite honest my blog has taken a different direction since that post. I’ve moved away from my blog mainly being about beauty, specifically beauty product reviews, and have been drawn more and more towards lifestyle.
With that being said (totally out of the blue and off topic, but hey, I thought you needed the heads up) lets jump into the tag!
1. Favorite Fall scent?
I’m not into typical fall scents. I know I know, I say that I’m obsessed with everything fall but I don’t like fall scents? Hear me out.
In terms of candle scents I’m not a huge fan of apple cinnamon, or pumpkin spice. The problem with apple cinnamon scented candles is that they are always way too over powering. I wouldn’t say that I’m uber sensitive to smells, but when they’re over powering (light it in one room and it smells your entire house) my head just can’t handle that for some reason. If you want to know why I can’t stand the pumpkin spice smell, keep reading to the last question.
Scents for fall that I do love include the smell of pies baking in the oven, coffee, green apple scented candles, fresh linen scented candles, and honestly just the smell of nature. It is the most refreshing smell, the fresh, crisp, cold fall air.
2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?
If anyone knows me, they know that coffee is my vice. I drink coffee everyday, all year round- but during the cold months of the year it’s extra inviting to have a second or third cup to warm myself up. The cold months also bring out the hot chocolate lover in myself! Growing up (when I was too young to drink coffee or tea, and didn’t have the taste buds for either yet) I always remember being accompanied by a nice hot cup of Tim Hortons hot chocolate when we attended outdoor winter festivities, such as the Santa Clause Parade or my famous ice skating birthday parties. I also remember almost always spilling it on my jacket- every single time. Hot chocolate is every Canadian kids favourite tradition after coming inside after being with your friends playing in the snow.
3. What’s the best fall memory you have?
I have a hard time picking one moment, because life is made up of so many little moments strung together. I love the moments that I get to spend with my family in the fall, especially at Thanksgiving- some of my favourite moments happen when we’re all together. Most of all, I love all the fall moments that I get to spend and share with the love of my life- there’s been so many captured moments and it makes me so happy not only to be able to share my love of this season with our kids one day but show them glimpses of their Mom’s favourite moments together.
4. Which makeup trend do you prefer, dark lips or winged eye liner?
I’m not much of an eye liner person to begin with, but I do love a nice dark lip. My lip colour collection tends to lean toward more nude/pink tones but I do have a few dark colours- my favourites are from Lime Crime!
5. Favorite Thanksgiving food?
I am such a huge fan of Thanksgiving, I love the season that it’s in, I love getting together with my family and I love the tradition ham that my Nanny always makes for the occasion. At my family dinners theres always a spread of amazing food that you’d find at any traditional Thanksgiving feast- turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. Turkey isn’t really my thing though, so I’d have to say that the ham is hands down my fave.
6. What is Autumn weather like where you live?
Autumn in Southern Ontario is gorgeous. The air starts to grow cold, and you have to bundle up to stay warm (layers are my favourite), the leaves on the trees start to change colour to the most beautiful oranges, yellows, and reds before they fall to cover the ground. During the nights in Autumn (where I live) its essential to break out the duvet blanket as it’s a lot more chill during the nights when the sun isn’t shinning.
7. Most worn sweater?
I’m the worst for two things: picking just one item that I love and buying too many sweaters. I have a closet full of hoodies and though I do tend to lean towards the bigger, loose fitting hoodies that I own, I still couldn’t pick a most worn because they all get worn the same amount (I’m almost always in a hoodie)
8. Skinny jeans or leggings?
LEGGINGSSSSS. If I have a choice between jeans and something comfortable then I will most definitely always pick the comfy option. When I’m not leaving the house you can find me in my sweats- hoodie and track pants always, but if I do have to go out then I can’t go wrong with a pair of black leggings.
9. Combat boots or Uggs?
I’ve never been a supported of Ugg’s because of the animal’s involved in the manufacturing process- I have had a few knock-off Uggs in the past but they always left my feet cold and damp. Combat boots are awesome for fall fashion, but not so much for warmth. I recently just purchased the most amazing pair of Bog’s which I’ll be doing a review on coming in the new few weeks so stay tuned for that!
10. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?
NO. My taste buds and sense of smell disagree with this whole pumpkin spice craze. My dislike for things ‘pumpkin inspired’ started when I was a little girl, I’ve always despised pumpkin pie so it doesn’t come as a shock to me that I don’t have a liking for anything thats pumpkin spiced. As for the smell, well, things taste how they smell so it just reminds me of pumpkin pie and y u c k.
How do you feel about Pumpkin Spice?!
